Gaetano Donizetti - Le crépuscule (The twilight)
ARRANGED FOR SOPRANO (OR TREBLE INSTRUMENT) AND HARP
Le Crepuscule (The Twilight) is a graceful work by operatic composer Gaetano Donizetti (1797-1848), originally composed for voice and piano. The text is based on a poem by Victor Hugo told from the point of view of a man calling a woman to pay attention to his love, with a recurring image of knocking on her door. The adapted harp accompaniment features gentle, comfortable arpeggios in the A section, and faster rhythmic patterns representing knocking on the door in the B section. This flexible arrangement can be performed on a recital as a harp and voice duet, or customized for any harp and treble instrument combination at gigs.
